Take a second look at your objectives and see if accomplishing your goals is attainable. It all depends on what goals you have in mind and how extensive and realistic are your goals. Goals are objectives or aspirations. You can have financial goals, health goals, religious goals, and all other aspects that go with self-development. Ideally, you want to reach the goals in all conceivable aspects. It’s a hard task. You will have to reconcile the methods of accomplishing your different objectives.
Nobody can help you except yourself. You need self-motivation and determination to do whatever is necessary to build your character and personality to meet the requirements for accomplishing your ambitions. You may need to undergo a great deal of sacrifices. You must be strong mentally, psychologically and physically to cope with the demands you will be imposing personally upon yourself. Here are some things you can do to help you along the road of self-improvement.
Don’t wait for a good time to start. There is no time like the present. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can start improving yourself. It’s a long and hard road and it won’t get shorter nor easier by dawdling at the start. List everything you want to do. For those that start late in life, this might be construed as a bucket list, that is a list of things you want to do before you “kick the bucket”. You should consider your list as the start of your life’s achievements. On one side put where you are now and on the other side write where you want to be in the future. Between the two, itemize the action plans or things you must do to reach your goal. Visualize the action plans in their proper sequences. Things change over time. As they say, there is nothing as constant as change itself. Accept changes. Adjust the list from time to time. Be sure your goals are still attainable. Put some short term goals that can be accomplished within a year or two. Enjoy some satisfaction over accomplishing these short term goals. It will also provide you with sufficient determination to move on to the next short term goal Learn from your past mistakes and the mistakes of others. Avoid committing the same mistakes. Seek advice from other people. They have garnered wisdom along the way and may be willing to share it with you. Take the mistakes and the advice into consideration but the decision still remains yours. Learn to take matters into your hands and accept responsibility over your development. On a regular basis, assess your strengths and weaknesses. Build up your strengths and work on your weaknesses. Accept that some weaknesses might remain for life. Learn to work around them. Develop self-empowerment skills. Self-empowerment and positive attitudes will help you achieve your goals. |
