Showing Kindness Everyday

You love seeing the look on your friend’s face when you give him a gift from his Christmas wish list. But you can also experience joy not just during the holiday season. Some of these things are easy to do but are hard to match.

Shopping is gratifying, there’s no doubt about that. You let yourself loose in the mall, as you hunt for the best bargain for yourself or the perfect gift for your loved one. When you find that one present that makes your heart flutter or lights up their eyes like a 100-megawatt light bulb, you know you’ve scored victory. There are some gifts, however, that don’t require marathon shopping hours, long lines at the cashier, or agonizing over options and budgets. But, they give you the same warm and fuzzy feeling nonetheless. When you offer a little bit of yourself to others, the feel-good rewards can be more powerful and life-changing than you think.

Helping contributes to the maintenance of good health, and it can diminish the effect of diseases and disorders… serious and minor, psychological and physical. There’s a feeling of euphoria followed by a longer period of calm after performing a kind act for others. This is what you call the helper’s high and this involves physical sensations that strongly indicate a sharp reduction in stress and the release of those happy hormones. Moreover, this initial rush is then followed by a longer-lasting period of improved emotional wellbeing.

It’s time to put a smile on someone else’s face. This is healing through simple sharing and togetherness. Children suffering from deadly and painful diseases need more of your time than anyone else. It helps to make time to educate these children and their families about what they’re going through. You show them how you can celebrate life even when things get rough. You come out of with the satisfaction of knowing that you made a human being enjoy living again.

Or, you could always help rebuild the lives of young orphans. There are a lot of children out there who feel abandoned, neglected, and orphaned. These are underprivileged children who didn’t grow up with parents like yours. You should be the conscientious individual who will make a difference in the lives of these kids who have gone through most of their days alone. Even simple donations will suffice, and you’ll make hundreds of individuals happy with a simple gesture. In the end, you get a society where there are fewer children on the streets and prospects of a brighter future. They will know what it feels like to receive and will pay the good deed forward when the time comes.

The point here is to show kindness. That’s the best gift you can give to the world and something that will make you grow as a person. You will get the chance to connect with individuals who help feed your soul. Be the warrior and the bringer of change. When you do this regularly, you’ll find that you’ve become a better individual because of it.
