Adversity is a temporary state of misfortune. A person may be afflicted with various adversities in their lifetime. The adversity may be related to financial, health, happiness or some other affliction that brings misfortune to a person. From the day we were born, we were beset with different degrees of adversity. All of us have different perspectives and views on what we may consider an adversity. Sickness, loss of a family member and termination from a job are adversities which may happen during a lifetime. People might become greatly affected by their adversity that they may never get over it or at the least becomes a long road to recovery.
You should never become discouraged. Feeling sorry for oneself is not a good attitude. Look at the adversity as an opportunity to prove yourself. The calamity may be of such magnitude that it becomes nerve wracking and emotionally intense. You may become confused and your mind might be muddled with so many thoughts. Try giving these suggestions some thought during your moments of adversity.
As long as you are still alive, there’s always hope and willpower. Giving up is not an option. Meet the adversity face to face and come out victorious. If you remain resolute and determined, there is a good chance you will emerge a better and stronger person. This is easier said than done. Try working on the positive aspects of the situation and see if you can salvage some good from the adversity. Accept the adversity and don’t linger on it.
Think of it as a temporary setback. Gather your thoughts and determine ways and means to overcome the adversity. Adversity can bring out our hidden talents. We may have some inherent qualities but never realized it since we never had the opportunity of exploring our capabilities. Adversity could be the enforcing trigger that will make us stand out. This doesn’t mean you should go looking for adversity to test your hidden prowess. There will be enough adversity for you in a lifetime without your having to seek it. You may develop a stronger character or a firmer resoluteness in the face of the adversity. People who lose their jobs are able to find other work which they thought they were not capable of accomplishing. At times, a sickness is welcomed as the body can develop immunity to the disease and come out with a stronger constitution. Illnesses can bring a family closer together as they give comfort and solace to one another.
Look around for resources to help combat the adversity. Your family, relatives and friends are ready to support you in your times of need. Be appreciative and grateful of their help. Tell them that you will help them out once you get back on your feet. Some people are too proud to accept help from others. There are pros and cons on this concept. Depending on how hard you got hit by the adversity, it may be best to be prudent and assess the extent and type of resources you have available to get you over the troubles. Accept adversity and resolve it with all your resources. The way you overcome adversity defines the type of person you are and prepares you for future opportunities.
